When our patient went into hospital, he planned to receive treatment so he could get back to the busy life of being a dad. When he did not respond to treatment, the reality of how little time he had left became clear.
Within a day, the plan was set. The following morning, volunteer Jim Harrison of Harrison Denture Clinic met Wish Coordinator Melissa at the hospital, and they walked down the hall… warmly greeted by not just the immediate family but a larger extended family that had gathered to be a part of this important moment.
Tears were shed while this sweet little family worked with Jim to create a hand casting of them all clasping their hands together. This activity created a keepsake and allowed the family to come together to do something meaningful. Something that wasn’t just visiting dad in the hospital.
When there aren’t many moments left, finding opportunities to live and to hope is crucial. This is our mission. This is our purpose. This is why we are here.
