It was clear that Robert was a huge fan of Christmas. It was his favourite time of year. So, when we received his wish application, we had visions of Christmas concerts dancing in our heads. However, when we asked Robert for the details of his wish, he did not hesitate. He wanted to go out for the night… out of his group home setting… out for dinner with Mom and Dad, and he wanted to have a beer with his dinner! Due to his medications, beer was often out of the question for him. However, the night was timed just right, and Robert could enjoy a beautiful moment saying cheers with his parents.
When faced with limited time, it is often the simplest things that we wish for. Especially this time of year. All we really need is good food, time with family, and to celebrate our time together!
